Summary:
Lobbying is one of the most important informal institutions to play an
influential role in the process of making and directing American foreign
political decision-making regardless of the prevailing nature of the political
system, based on the fact that it expresses specific demands and interests of a
high degree of specialization, thereby contributing as part of its policy
relationship to the process of making them
The influential role of lobbying and interest groups in US foreign
political decision-making is highlighted by influencing the executive and
legislative branches These groups seek to influence external decision-making to
advance the adoption of specific policies consistent with their interests, as well
as the abandonment of certain external policies or attitudes that may adversely
affect these groups' interests Its impact was evident in the third Gulf War by
pressuring American political decision makers to do so in the interests of the
region
