The Algerian legislator has established special criminal protection for the fetus by criminalizing abortion and imposing penalties ranging from misdemeanor to felony, depending on the circumstances of the act. The act is classified as a felony when accompanied by aggravating circumstances, such as the death of the pregnant woman, for example.
