Item Open Access Flood risk Study of the Land Use Plan N°=07A(University of Msila, 2025) Hamadene safiaFloods are among the most frequent and devastating Natural hazards, particularly in rapidly urbanizing areas where unplanned growth, poor land management, and lack of green infrastructure amplify their impact. The municipality of Bordj Bou Arreridj serves as a significant case study, notably after the severe flooding event on September 24, 1994, which resulted in 16 fatalities and damage to over 800 homes due to the overflow of four wadis. While Natural factors triggered the Floods, the extent of the disaster was mainly due to inadequate urban planning and a lack of risk consideration in land use decisions. This thesis focuses on Land Use Plan (POS 7A), a fast-growing urban zone marked by increasing housing demand and uncontrolled land expansion, often at the expense of environmental and hydrological safety. The objective is to analyze the flood phenomenon in this area using field studies and cartographic assessments to identify hazard sources and vulnerable areas with special attention to the morphological and hydrological features. The study is structured in primerly introduction, two chapters and conclusions. The first outlines urban planning principles and hazard typologies, emphasizing fluvial flooding plus the geographic informations system SIG. The second examines the risk in The Land Use Plan 7A by identifying major hazard sources and assessing the vulnerability of the population and infrastructure. The findings are synthesized in a flood sensitivity map, intended as a tool for decision-makers to develop an anti-flood plan. Ultimately, the study advocates for sustainable urban protection measures, such as effective drainage systems, protection of non-buildable zones, and risk-conscious urban planning, integrating natural dynamics and long-term resilience into urban development strategies
