Item Open Access Les orchidées de la wilaya de Tizi Ouzou (Algérie) : Inventaire, Cartographie et Enjeux de conservation(University of M'Sila, 2024) BEN SI SAID ZinebGrande Kabylie is a regional hotspot characterized by a multitude of ecosystems from the coast to the high mountains. The only reference study on orchids did not take into account the entire territory of the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou unlike the neighboring wilaya of Béjaia. The present work completes this inventory study, the ecology and the distribution of the different orchid species in the wilaya. After one year of inventory, a balance of 46 taxa plus 7 hybrids divided into 13 genera (Anacamptis, Androrchis, Cephalanthera, Cypripedium, Epipactis, Dactylorhiza, Himantoglossum, Limodorum, Neotinea, Ophrys, Orchis, Serapias, Spirante) were noted at 275 separate stations with over 1,000 unique observations. This inventory makes the wilaya the richest to date for the Algerian orchidoflore. Orchid stations have been discovered and rediscovered in Great Kabylia. Rare and endemic species, subspecies have been observed, identified and localized. These listed species therefore have great value in terms of conservation issues, either for heritage reasons (endemic, protected) or for their risk of extinction (threatened, rare). The application of a Hierarchical Ascending Classification (CAH) Statistical Analysis followed by a Correspondence Factor Analysis (AFC), group the study stations and orchids into 3 different groups according to the preference of each species for its development environment. However, the Principal Correspondence Analysis (PCA) indicates that these environmental parameters (altitude, slope, substrate and exposure) can influence the distribution of orchids in the territory of the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou with an inertia greater than 50%.
