    TRUAMA AND VIOLENCE IN CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE’S HALF OF A YELLOW SUN

    Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Half of a Yellow Sun belongs to war trauma fiction this novel, has gained a significant attention among literary critics. The novel offers a broad overview of the aftermath of the bloody Nigerian civil war that lasted from 1967 to 1970 in post independent Nigeria. Therefore, the present study investigates the psychological damages resulting from the civil war violence, as well as the traumatic dimensions embodied in the novel. This research adopts trauma literary theory and its related concepts in order to explore how Adichie depicts the aftermath of the civil war in the novel. Interestingly, this remarkable milestone in the African literary canon casts light on how the writer depicts individual and collective traumatic historical memories through fiction. Therefore, this work splits up into two main chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the socio-historical context and the theoretical frame work. Whereas, the second chapter scrutinizes the traumatic experiences of the novel characters. In addition to, Adichie’s inherited historical trauma which places her as a member of the post generation.
