This work presents the production of activated carbons (CA) from almond shells according to the method of thermochemical activation by the acid activating agent H3PO4 at different impregnation ratios (CAP30, CAP60, CAP100 and CAP150) and at temperature 450 °C. The materials of the activated carbons prepared were characterized, for their surface chemistry analysis, by "Boehm" titrations, measurement of the zero charge point pHPZC, infrared spectroscopy FTIR and for their textural analysis (I2 index and methylene blue adsorption "BM"). The adsorption capacity of the activated carbons follows the order CAP30> CAP60> CAP100> CAP150. Activated carbons obtained from almond shells (CAPs) have been applied in an aqueous medium for the removal of an "methylorange" anionic (acid) dye. Adsorption experiments were performed as a function of the pH of the medium between 2 and 12, the contact time and the methylorange dye concentration. The pseudo-second-order model provided the best coefficients of determination for the activated carbons prepared at the impregnation ratios (CAP100 and CAP150). On the other hand, the results of the adsorption kinetics indicated that the pseudo-first order model provided the best coefficients of determination for the activated carbons prepared at the impregnation ratios (CAP30 and CAP60). The adsorption isotherms of the "methylorange" dye were studied at a temperature of 20 ° C. The models of Langmuir (typical of a single-layer adsorption) and Freundlich, describe the experimental adsorption isotherms of methylorange.en_US
