Abstract

The aim of the study was to shed light on the possibility of solving the problem of financing small and medium enterprises in Algeria through the Islamic financing system. The Islamic financing system is radically different from the traditional financing system based on interest rates, which has been the cause of the failure of many institutions. Through the study, we found that Al Salam Bank - Algiers-M'Sila provides many financing formulas based on the provisions of Islamic Sharia, represented by Murabaha, Salam, Musharakah, Mudaraba, Istisna'a, and financial leasing. These formulas are based on sharing profits and losses, reducing the risk of bankruptcy for many enterprises. However, despite the positive development in the financing provided by the bank, it remains limited to specific formulas that guarantee the bank’s profitability, without taking the risk of financing enterprises through participation formulas in agricultural projects and other high-risk projects.
