Abstract
This study aims to shed light on the issue of the role of standardization in consumer protection. The issue of standardization is the establishment of provisions for uniform and repeated use in the face of real or potential problems that contain solutions to technical and commercial problems related to products, goods and services that arise repeatedly in relations between partners. Economic, scientific, technical and social. Therefore, it plays a significant role in determining the characteristics of the products and services offered in the market for consumption.
The study concluded that standardization mainly aims to ensure the harmony and compatibility of products, and standardization also plays a significant role in facilitating international trade exchanges. These general goals of standardization have led to the expansion of its scope to include other goals that mainly concern the consumer. He is currently searching for solutions to reach conformity. Products and services meet the desires of the consumer, without harming his health and security. It also aims to protect the environment, given that living in a pure and healthy environment is one of the basic rights of the consumer. Algeria’s adoption of the market economy system and the resulting freedom of competition among economic agents has increased the chances of a threat to Consumers in their lives and material interests, whether in the field of production or import, due to the exacerbation of fraud in the products and services offered by the interveners.
