dc.description.abstract | Pragmatics has received the attention of researchers, and has occupied a wide area of modern linguistic study - both in theory and in application - . This status has alerted the possibility of researching the pragmatic act of the sermons of Sheikh Muhammad al-Bashir al-Ibrahimi. The study aimed to identify the pragmatic implications in his sermons, and to uncover speech acts, presuppositions, and arguments, using the descriptive approach equipped with analytical and statistical procedures. Arriving at the results, the most important of which are: the diversity of speech acts in the Sheikh’s sermons, including informative, directive, expressive, declarative, and obligatory speech acts. There are many types of presupposition that the sermons were imbued with. The presupposition was existential, structural, realistic, unrealistic, and lexical. The speeches were also full of argumentative mechanisms, including links of various kinds, conflicting and supportive, in addition to the listing of results, factors, and enumeration of possibilities, and argumentative ladders of all kinds to achieve persuasion and influence. | |
