Abstract

Abstract This study aims at investigating the role of culture in fostering English foreign language learners in the classroom. It attempts to examine the teaching/learning situation of the English cultures that are in need to consider for arousing the students’ interest in foreign language learning and improving their intercultural competence in the class, and to find out the role of culture in EFL relations and as a bridge of knowing the others. Following a descriptive research desgin, there was an attempt to describe the culture dimension from a variety of perspectives. A questionnaire is addressed for both students and teachers at the Department of English University of Msila, hoping to obtain the appropriate data for the current study. And the findings were both quantitatively and qualitatively analysed. The results showed that teachers should design a lesson for their students needs and for the students to have the opportunity to learn English language. The work is concluded by general discussion of the results. Moreover; the dissertation is accompanied with some recommendations in relation to this study for learners envisaginf further studies with the same realm
