The purpose behind the present study is to depict the situations of Nigerian society as
reflected by Achebe’s novel A Man of the People. The work portrays the problem of
corruption in Nigeria Among the political. This study discusses post-colonialism as an era of
struggle and challenges for the Nigerians and How later represented in African literature .As
case study ,Achebe novel A Man Of the People had been the appropriate writings to portray
the African condition after independence and we use the post-colonial theory and Gramsci
theory to highlight the theme of corruption .These two theories are chosen for their direct
relationship with the subject matter . The post-colonial suits the study since the novel is
written in the post –colonial period , which witnessed waves of corruption at all levels .The
major focus of this study is to explore How Achebe satirizes the major forms of corruption
committed by the political leaders .Achebe suggested a coup at the end of the novel as the
only solution to deter corruption . But the key solution of better Nigeria future is depended on
her people, the organic intellectuals are the core of its political and social crisis. Addition to
that the relationship between those truly educated class and the masses should be strengthened
to develop their nation.
