| dc.description.abstract | The unexpected support of Evangelical Protestants to the elected President in 2016 Donald Trump reveals a tumult of suspicion between the candidate and the American Baptist Church. From previous researches, being a non-religious candidate in the United States’ elections, prevent the nominee from getting support of the largest Religious Groups that dominate the American societies, which represent the majority of voters who may determine the winner of the Presidential elections. America is known for the whole world as a secular state, where politics and religion can never be joined together or put in the same column, but taking into consideration the results of the last elections where two thirds from the supporters of Donald Trump were Baptists and Evangelicals, the research is to point out the impacts of church's influence on elections and politics. The debate is about the unconditional support of Evangelical Christians behind someone who seems the very antithesis of most everything they have ever claimed to stand for; to what extent does the promises of Donald Trump affect Evangelicals towards their support in the last elections? Does he represent the awaited protector for the Baptist Church? Dealing with such topic requires the use of analytical descriptive approach; it is an overview about the reasons why evangelicals voted for Trump, was it for purpose of fidelity or pragmatism.
