The problem of Whitewashing has been and still is a thorny issue in the whole world especially in the American society. The present research aims at revealing this problem which is considered a main social issue that triggers African Americans, and represents how they suffer from less representation in movies, books, and art. Moreover, how black people were discriminated against in history, and how the white Americans are represented as white saviors throughout Kathryn Stockett 2009 novel. This study adopted critical whiteness studies and Sigmund Freud theories which best examine the psychological and sociological aspects of the characters’ behavior in the novel. Finally, our analysis aims at trying to find how the writer projected herself in the novel.en_US
