dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This research investigates the socio-political, religious and cultural realities of the post-independence Indian society in Sulmane Rashdie's The Midnight Children. The study examines and attempts to clarify the nature of the Indian society in political, religious and cultural sides during and after the independent from the British colonization and how colonialism affectedIndia on both situations, following the novel of Midnight Children as a guide and example to describe those issues. To discover this issues, an analysis is conducted using the post-colonial theory of Franz Fanon as a guide to finish the research. Hence the study aims mainly to confirm how the Indian society is authentic and hybrid society. The first chapter of this research deals with the theoretical framework and the socio historical context. The second chapter examine the issues of identity, religion and how Rushdie represents them through the characters of the novel, and how he use them in a good way in the novel. In conclusion, the study reveals the affects and the realities of the independence Indian society under the control of the colonial poweren_US
