T This research delves into the impact of NATO's expansion on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, emphasizing the underlying civilizational divisions and heightened tensions that arise as a result. Drawing from Samuel Huntington's Clash of Civilizations theory, the study aims to enhance comprehension of the intricate dynamics driving the conflict and its implications for regional and global security. Employing a qualitative approach with content analysis as the primary method, the research investigates the relationship between NATO's enlargement and the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, while assessing the applicability of Huntington's theory in understanding the interaction between NATO's expansion and the civilizational fault lines at play. The research findings suggest that Huntington's theory offers valuable insights into comprehending the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and NATO's expansion. Notably, the division within Ukraine, characterized by historical, cultural, and linguistic disparities between its western and eastern regions, significantly contributes to the escalation of the conflict. The western regions, influenced by European culture and values, seek alignment with the Western civilization represented by NATO. Conversely, the eastern regions, with stronger ties to Russia, endeavour to preserve their Slavic identity and resist Western influences. Russia perceives NATO's expansion as a threat to its security and influence, aligning with Huntington's theory as it underscores the clash between Western and Slavic civilizations. The defence of Slavic culture and identity in Ukraine, particularly in the eastern regions, can be interpreted as a response to the perceived Western cultural invasion through NATO partnerships and the imposition of Western values and ideologies. Studying the clash between the Western and Slavic civilizations within the framework of Huntington's theory provides a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that arise from cultural diversity in our interconnected worlden_US
