Abstract
The African continent is rich in oil and gas, holding significant reserves estimated at 10% of the world's oil reserves and approximately 8% of its gas reserves. In addition, Africa is witnessing a boom in the renewable energy sector, making it an attractive investment hub. The competition for energy in Africa has geopolitical and economic dimensions, as major countries seek to secure their energy supplies and diversify their sources. Africa is an arena for growing international competition over energy resources, with major powers and multinational corporations vying to exploit its oil and gas resources, as well as renewable energy resources. This competition is driven by Africa's growing importance as an energy source, especially with rising global demand and declining production of traditional energy sources. This competition impacts political and economic stability on the continent and raises questions about how to achieve sustainable development and resource exploitation for the benefit of the African people. Africa faces significant challenges in managing its resources, including corruption, mismanagement, and armed conflict. African countries must develop effective policies to manage their energy resources and enhance transparency and accountability in the energy sector. It must also invest in infrastructure and develop local skills to ensure sustainable development.
