Abstract
This study explored the topic of local news in the virtual space by performing an analytical study of the M'sila province's local news published on media websites. The news released on "Tout sur M'Sila " and "Ennahar Online" served as models to determine how local news was processed on these websites. Therefore, the primary aim of this study is to provide scientific research on local news in the digital environment, explore the role of technology in media practices, and review how the websites function. The importance of this topic is in the advancement of knowledge and scientific studies, providing information for related research, and suggesting solutions for professionals and other benefits in the academic and socio-economic fields. For this reason, a descriptive study methodology using survey techniques has been selected to analyze the express and implied content of around 100 local news on websites deliberately selected individuals, divided into fifty local news on websites each for the "Tout sur M'sila" and "Ennahar Online" websites, to research local news processing frameworks, local news types, media treatment goals, implied factors and values in events, sources relied upon, local content trends, and the sources of news. ch as "Ennahar Online" and "Tout sur M'Sila". The content analysis incorporated the nature of headlines, colors used, framing tools, electronic writing templates, multimedia elements, hypertext, and interactive features available from social media, as well as the technical control methods and updates applicable in this context. Linguistic, terminological, and procedural concepts of the study variables were also considered. In addition to previous studies on this topic, we conducted a detailed scientific analysis of all factors related to our study. Our approach involved exploring local news as a variable through a theoretical framework, including an overview of news content, origins, writing methods, values, and other relevant elements, as well as the role of local media and local news patterns. We also delved into the variable of virtual space, examining virtual space technology, related terminology, and its impact in Algeria. Finally, we connected the two variables by exploring the relationship between traditional and new media and the effects of new media on traditional media. We provided examples of various media websites to illustrate our results. Ultimately, an analytical study was carried out, which involved collecting data and comparing the results of the participants under theoretical approaches, prior research, and a theoretical framework. Recommendations were formulated based on the findings, and some of the most prominent results include:
- Local news for the M'sila province has been processed for two websites, "Tout sur M'Sila" and "Ennahar Online," using a framework that includes categories such as voluntary campaigns, criminal activity, accidents, scientific research development, and local development. The framework also includes providing a range of services, directing multiple charges, offering rewards and recognition, seeking penalties, and allocating financial resources. Additionally, the framework aims to address issues such as combating various crimes, carrying out field observations and statistics.
- Primary news types covered on the website include simple and complex news stories in terms of size and structure, as well as local social, scientific, developmental, religious, political, cultural, sports, security, and health news in terms of content.
- Local figures, collectivities, and public/private institutions are the most significant factors involved in local news treatment.
- The primary goals of local news treatment include informing and promoting, as well as educating, disseminating knowledge, raising awareness, and conveying local citizen concerns.
