| dc.description.abstract | Algiers is one of the most important cities in the western Mediterranean basin, due to its location, geographical and strategic nature, cultural role and military fortifications, which made it the target of colonial powers' ambitions throughout history, to become the political capital of the country during the Ottoman era (1519-1830 AD), which gave it international prestige and made it a political centre that coexisted for more than three centuries.
