Ever since its inception, Islam has always been and remains to this day in conflict with the West. Samuel P. Huntington argues through his controversial article, “The Clash of Civilizations?”, that this conflict emerges from the incompatible nature of the two cultures, and therefore presents the latter as the most important source of conflict in the post-Cold War era. The following research aims to delineate how Season of Migration to the North, through the character of Mustafa Sa’eed, preludes and echoes Huntington’stheory. By using an eclectic approach that combines Edward Said’s Orientalism and the New Historicism theory, this research unveils the disruptive politics embedded in colonialist education and how it constitutes a threat to native identity. Furthermore, the study shows that the actions of Mustafa Sa’eed are the harvest of an inescapable long-standing clash between Islam and Christianity. In a nutshell, this study highlights the role of cultural identity in dictating internations relations.en_US
