Abstract
This thesis examines the complex landscape of identity politics in the US after President Barack Obama's presidency .Both political parties Republicans and Democrats have skillfully manipulated the terrain of identity as the country struggles with changing social dynamics to increase their electoral support and gain political influence .This study addresses the complex strategies used by both parties in their quest of political dominance through an extensive historical analysis .The study of the post-Obama age provides a distinctive perspective for understanding the complicated nature of identity politics. Rising polarization, changes in the population, and the emergence of new social movements characterize this period .Both parties have developed unique approaches to win over different identity groups. They used themes like race, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation to energize their support bases and attract in swing votes .Employing an extensive variety of historical information such as party platforms, election results, campaign slogans, and legislative initiatives .This thesis explains the development of identity politics in American politics. It investigates how parties changed their platforms and policy plans to take advantage of the electorate's diversity of identities while simultaneously addressing issues of inclusion and representation. Additionally, this research offers an examination of how identity politics impact societal unity and democratic government. So both parties are skillful at using identity politics to bolster their support bases and attract in important voter segments .Republicans appeal to traditionalist opinions by focusing on national identity and cultural preservation, while Democrats emphasize inclusivity and progressive policies to bring both voters and minority groups .These tactics have increased polarization. The study concludes that identity politics will continue to affect American democracy and influence future electoral strategies by emphasizing the conflict between identity-based mobilization and national unity
