dc.description.abstractIV Abstract The present dissertation is intended to investigate Leftism in American society and politics from 1900 to 1960. The method that is used in this study is historical analytical approach. It aims at providing the necessary information to understand the impact of Leftism on the American society and politics. Therefore, this work is meant to provide a clear analysis of the main events and facts that contributed to the transformation of American’s thoughts and ideologies. For instance, the various problems of the Gilded Age and the negative consequences of industrialization that led diversified interest groups to call for progressive reforms at the city and state levels under the umbrella of Leftists and Socialists groups. Then, the movement had inspired prominent historical leaders, and changed the name in the late of 1940s which finally resulted in the emergence of new generation and culture that reflected in literary works. Despite all its successful achievements and the reforms that have brought, Leftism failed to cure all the problems and to reform the corruption.en_US
